For deep frying, it's easier to use a fresh turkey because it eliminates a step. If you buy a frozen turkey, it must be completely thawed before placing it in the fryer. Because it's so important, we'll say it again and include a picture of a turkey thawing in front of a warmer! If you are going to fry a FROZEN TURKEY, make sure it is COMPLETELY THAWED!

It's somewhat ironic because there are many people that prefer frozen turkeys over fresh turkeys when it comes to oven cooking. Fresh turkeys are simply easier to over cook and therefore dry out more quickly. When it comes to frying the turkey, it's going to lock in all of the flavor and is absolutely one of the best ways to prepare a moist, juicy turkey that is bursting with flavor. As far as Fresh or Frozen, we recommend fresh because you know it is going to be thawed and it saves time. However, we have thawed and fried frozen turkeys and they turn out great as well!
